Reception in the lobby

Beyond the labyrinth of high-rise buildings and gridlocks of night markets, we managed to discover a hidden gem along SongJiang Road in Zhongshan District. This hip boutique hotel is founded by both husband and wife, Mr and Mrs Dai who relocated back from New York a few years ago. In support of the LGBT community, this pair of straight ally decided to adopt the Rainbow theme during Pride Month. It is definitely significant for a locally managed hotel to demonstrate such efforts and Element is honoured to experience it in Check Inn last October.

All guestrooms are adorned with a loft style design where pipes, concrete, bricks, tiles and steel can be seen in the fittings and furniture. The overall interior has a natural contemporary tone that juxtaposes against a brick backdrop that makes it stylish and industrial. The black and white color scheme of the bathrooms blends in perfectly with the minimalist room décor. All guestrooms also come with floor to ceiling windows that elegantly separate the private space from the bustling street below.

Check Inn also often collaborates with lifestyle brands and hip artists to offer guests an urban and unique stay. For instance, the shampoo and showergel are organic products developed by Inna Organic for the hotel. Guests can also see graffiti art on some walls in the hotelthat gives it an underground New York feel. Even the interior of the cafes and its menu would remind you of typical diners in New York. (Check out their website for their latest and upcoming collaborations.)
